Relationship between extinction magnitude and climate change during major marine and terrestrial animal crises

چکیده

Abstract. Major mass extinctions in the Phanerozoic Eon occurred during abrupt global climate changes accompanied by environmental destruction driven large volcanic eruptions and projectile impacts. Relationships between land temperature anomalies terrestrial animal extinctions, as well difference response marine animals to Phanerozoic, have not been quantitatively evaluated. My analyses show that magnitude of major invertebrates tetrapods correlate with coincidental anomaly habitat surface temperatures biotic crises, respectively, regardless warming cooling (correlation coefficient R=0.92–0.95). The loss more than 35 % genera 60 species corresponding so-called “big five” correlates a >7 ∘C 7–9 for >∼7 tetrapods, ±1 error average, although amount data is small. These relationships indicate (i) environment associated high-energy input volcanism impact relate (ii) future anthropogenic extinction will reach when parallelly anomaly. In linear relationship, I found lower tolerance same events higher sensitivity change animals. phenomena fit ongoing extinctions.

the relationship between critical thinking and reading strategies

during the process of reading, sometimes learners use ineffective and inefficient strategies and some factors may influence their use of strategies. perhaps critical thinking is one of these factors. this study aims to identify those categories of reading strategies that are mostly used by iranian efl learners and to see if there is any significant relationship between the critical thinking abi...

the relationship between topic familiarity and guessing lexical meaning and retention among iranian efl learners

the skill of reading in english as a foreign language is an important and challenging one which is affected both by linguistic and extra linguistic factors. since vocabularies are part and parcel of every reading comprehension text, knowing enough vocabulary always facilitates this process. however, guessing strategy as one of the most important strategies has consistently ignored by language l...

Asynchronous terrestrial and marine signals of climate change during Heinrich events.

Tropical regions have been reported to play a key role in climate dynamics. To date, however, there are uncertainties in the timing and the amplitude of the response of tropical ecosystems to millennial-scale climate change. We present evidence of an asynchrony between terrestrial and marine signals of climate change during Heinrich events preserved in marine sediment cores from the Brazilian c...

Extinction selectivity among marine fishes during multistressor global change in the end-Permian and end-Triassic crises

Ancient mass extinction events such as the end-Permian and endTriassic crises provide analogues for multistressor global change of ocean warming, pH reduction, and deoxygenation. Organism physiology is hypothesized to be a key trait influencing vulnerability to these stressors, but it is not certain how physiology predicts survival over evolutionary time scales and when organisms are faced with...
